Fr. Joseph Nguyen to Be Installed as Provincial

(Bellflower, Calif. – August 3, 2026) - The installation of Fr. Joseph Thinh Nguyen, SDB, as the next provincial of the Salesian San Francisco Province will take place on Monday, August 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at St. Dominic Savio Church in Bellflower, Calif. Fr. Hugo Orozco, SDB, regional general councilor for Interamerica, will presided over the Eucharistic celebration and the installation. The province welcomes all members of the Salesian Family and friends of the Salesians to join them in prayer and celebration for Fr. Joe as he begins this important leadership ministry.

Fr. Nguyen’s appointment was announced on March 20. Salesian provincials are appointed by the rector major with the consent of his council for 6-year terms. He has been serving as master of novices in Richmond, Calif.

Fr. Nguyen will succeed Fr. Mel Trinidad, SDB.
